A day of work and a night of fun in Yamba, Australia

Day 355! Well… it’s time for a full day of work! I started my day on the later side and worked pretty much the entire day. My friends on the other hand, got to hang out on the beach all day! Tomorrow, we’re going on a little road trip… but you’ll have to wait and see what that is!

After a late night of work, it was time to sleep in! Even though Sammy was in town, I needed my rest. I told him, “please feel free to go swim in the morning… but I’m sleeping in.” He actually ended up sleeping in later than me, but at 9am I was up and showering.

After my shower though, I fell back asleep till almost 10am and then made myself breakfast.

Since I worked past midnight I couldn’t start working till 11am. So I had plenty of time to get ready for my long work day.

My schedule today was 11am to 6pm. Usually I would get off at around 3 or 4pm… but not today! I actually worked my entire shift. When I got to the hotel, it was very quiet. But as we inched closer and closer to lunch, it picked up quite a bit. So much so, I couldn’t finish restocking the fridges till a lot later in the day than usual (because of the constant flow of people).

While I was working, Sammy made his way to Angourie Beach, a beach I haven’t been to yet. He took my surfboard out and said he had a fun time at a beach called “back beach” down there.

But I was still chugging along at work and it ended up being a fairly busy Sunday. I’d describe it as the minimum capacity it probably should be on a summer Sunday.

I had a break at 2:30pm and ate some fish and chips! It’s been awhile since I’ve had them!

I continued on with my shift till 6pm and then I finally clocked out for the day. It was a long work day, especially after closing out the night before. But I was able to make it through the shift and then hobbled back home to shower and relax.

When I got back home, I showered and laid in bed. Then Sammy made his way back to my place, where we discussed our plans for the rest of the day. Our plans were to get some pizza from the pizza place below my house, grab some beers from the bottle shop, and drive to a place to watch the sunset.

And we did just that (after I finished my blog post from the day before)!

I haven’t had Drift Pizza yet, but it was really good! It’s honestly been forever since I’ve had pizza. We ended up watching a gorgeous sunset and enjoyed chatting and drinking.

After the sun fully set, we made our way to the pub! When we got there, it was fairly quiet, but a handful of people were there (including my coworkers I’m friends with). I popped a coin onto the side of the pool table and that set us 2nd in line for the table!

We ended up playing a married couple from Melbourne, which was coincidental since Sammy is from there. We won both games with both teams on the 8 ball… but both of the wins were because they pocketed the cue ball and the 8 ball. Oh well!

There were a number of locals out tonight though and they were very nice to me. Most said “it’s nice to see you on the right side of the bar.”

The pub ended up closing early, around 10pm, so Sam and I started heading home. Leave it to Yamba though, two random locals gave us a ride down the hill, saving me walking down it again with my boot. I’m a big fan of this town.

We ended up just going to bed when we got home because we decided tomorrow, we’ll be going to Byron Bay! It’s about an hour drive north of Yamba and is one of the most popular towns on the East coast of Australia! I’m looking forward to seeing it.

… but also while drinking at the pub, I was asked if I could work from 6pm to close tomorrow… soooo looks like it’s going to be a long day!
