Day 351! Another day of rest and work… I thought 6 weeks of healing my fractured foot would fly by a bit faster. The first 3.5 weeks have, but these last 2.5 are slugging on. Anyways, I had a nice day of sleeping in, watching tv and reading, and then working to round it all off.
After a late night of work, I slept in all the way till 10am. Pretty easy to do when you go to bed past midnight after a closing shift!
It’s not like I had much else to do today… or could do. I woke up to another gloomy day and on top of that it was insanely windy. If I was back in the Midwest of the US I would’ve assumed a tornado was forming nearby. But those are very very rare in Australia.
I finally got myself out of bed, after writing my blog post, got ready for my day, and made myself breakfast.
I then crawled back into bed where I watched more My Hero Academia and of course, read more of Oathbringer (the third book of the Stormlight Archives). I’m currently 785 pages into the book and still have like 400 more to go.
Before heading out for my work shift at 5pm, I had lunch and took a power nap. But then it was go time.

I hobbled my way outside and braved the wind as I started making my way up the hill. But to my surprise, I bumped into my manager who was picking up some beers at the bottle shop. So I was able to hitch a ride up the hill! I work with some really lovely people, who are always willing to lend a hand.
This was the start to another very slow work shift… but as always, I had good company from my coworkers. The most noteworthy part of my night was one of the kegs was on the warmer side. Because of this, it was constantly losing pressure. So I had to go down and up to and from the keg room multiple times throughout the night. I was getting my steps in.
8pm rolled around and I threw an order in for my dinner. And once my food came, I took my 30 minute break.

I treated myself to the Thai Wagyu beef salad again… and it held up yet again! This salad is super tasty and the flavors still made me miss Thailand. I can’t wait to go back, hopefully in the near future, and get my hands on all the delicious foods. And of course hang out with the amazing locals and travelers!
But that will have to wait, as my break ended and I got back to work.
Most of the days at work consist of a lot of people asking where I’m from and “how the heck I ended up in Yamba.” I always say I feel like I got pretty lucky landing here, and it’s true! I took a bit of a risk coming to Yamba without a job solidified… and also took a risk leaving the comforts of SE Asia to come to Australia to work! And so far, sans the fractured foot, it’s been really working out for me.
In 16 days I’ll hopefully be getting good news from the fracture clinic and I’ll be walking without my boot and shredding the waves again!
But until then, plenty of more days reading, tv watching, and working!
