A slow, relaxing day and a night of work

Day 332! I didn’t do a ton today… but I did get to FaceTime my extended family during their Thanksgiving dinner! Other than that, I got to the beach, watched tv, relaxed, and worked! Another easy day the foot and then working on it as well.

I woke up this morning feeling fairly dusty (Australian slang for hungover). It was a fun night last night, but I was feeling the consequences.

Will, Katie, Pat, and I made plans to go to the beach this morning, but Will wasn’t responding… classic Will.

Before I heard anything from Will, I saw an incredible email in my inbox.

This is the fastest any insurance I’ve worked with has been. All the negative reviews about this company were not holding true in this case!

Now the question is… when will I get reimbursed?

But before we answer that question, I finally got a response from Will! So our beach trip was a go. Shortly after the text, Will and Katie were behind my house ready to pick me up. Pat ended up not joining us, but we made our way to Covent Beach for a relaxing and quick beach morning.

Will had work at 10am, so we didn’t hang for a long time. But we stayed for a solid 45 minutes! I’m very much looking forward to the next time I can make a splash in the ocean!

The beach still rejuvenated me and we set out to our next stop after the beach. It was a bakery in town so Will could grab breakfast before work. I ended up walking home after, since I was pretty much home already.

I showered and made myself breakfast. I actually have eggs now! This is my first time cooking eggs in a while, and I was looking forward to the addition to my daily breakfast.

After breakfast, I FaceTimed my parents and they sent me around the Thanksgiving dinner table to chat with my relatives. It’s a bummer I’m missing out on Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays. But it’s only the second family one I’ve missed… the other was in 2019 when I went to Maui to Mascot. I will get to see all of this family in May, but I still wish I could’ve been there. At least I got to FaceTime and say hello to everyone!

I spent the rest of my morning and early afternoon very lazily. I napped on and off, watched some Demon Slayer, and played guitar. I wasn’t really in the mood for a meal when lunch time came around, so I snacked on hummus, crackers, and cucumber.

Today I had work from 4pm to 10pm and when it started closing in on 4pm, I made my way up the hill.

Today’s shift was surprisingly slow… I’m not sure why it was, but allegedly this is the “slow season before it turns into the crazy holiday summer season. I took a break at 7:30pm in hopes that we’d be hit with a rush of customers… but that never ended up happening.

After eating my dinner, I worked till 10pm… I technically worked 30 minutes less than I should’ve, since I had a dinner break. But there should have been a high likelihood that I worked well past 10pm. Oh well!

I knocked off and had a beer with Will, Pat, Bella, and a few others I didn’t know that well. I sat and chatted with them for an hour before calling it quits and heading home.

On my walk home, I got a notification that the money from my insurance claim had already been deposited!! The insurance covered the entire ER visit! It’s crazy how quickly they got back to me and reimbursed me.

Foot update:

Even with standing on it for so long at work; it doesn’t appear that it got worse!

I showered and plopped into bed, where I pretty much fell asleep immediately.

It was another fairly lowkey day. Tomorrow I work in the late morning and early afternoon. After work, I should be hanging out with Will! So we’ll see what happens!

Great news on the insurance! I suspect you’ll have a number of days like this until your foot heals up.
