Day 313! Get ready for another day of working as a bartender in Yamba! Today started off slow and on the tired side. It ended up being a chill morning of work followed by a change in my work schedule and having the rest of the day to do as I pleased! Another nice day in Yamba!
I woke up this morning absolutely exhausted. Staying up till 2am and having to work at 10am was going to be rough. I woke up with a pretty upset stomach and after dealing with that… I won’t go into details… I decided to go back to sleep till 9am.
This proved to be very beneficial and I think ended up getting around 6.5-7 hours of sleep, so not too far off a good nights sleep. After taking a shower I was feeling ready to go. So I ate breakfast and even had a few more minutes to lay back down before heading up to the hotel.

Thankfully, the morning started very slow. I’m not sure I could’ve jumped right into a hectic morning of lots of serving. But since the morning started with slowly restocking the bar, I was just fine!
My original shift was from 10am-6pm, but as always this was going to change.
For the first hour or two, it was mainly just restocking with very little drink making. But as the morning moved on closer to the brunch/lunch hour, we got to drink making. By this time I was up for the hecticness and bantering with customers.
My manager decided that it was a bit too slow of a morning to need himself, my coworker, and myself. So he told me that I’d clock out around 2:30pm and most likely come back for the dinner shift (he did ask if that was alright and I said yes).
So after just over 4.6 hours of work, I walked down the hill and back home.

I made myself a quick and easy lunch of leftover rice, the chicken I made yesterday (I knew this would come in handy), tomatoes, leftover pesto, and hummus. And after I devoured it, I took a much needed power nap!
I didn’t feel like doing much this afternoon, so I hung out at home and read more of the book I’m currently reading. Words of Radiance, the second Way of Kings book, has been sucking me in! I really don’t want to put it down. This series so far has been really great!
I also whipped out the guitar and jammed out for a bit too! I can’t complain about having time to make music!
7pm rolled around and I still hadn’t heard from my manager, so I felt like it was safe to assume I wasn’t going to be working anymore today. It was a little frustrating knowing I lost out on some hours at a much higher pay (Saturdays are 1.5x and Sundays are 1.75x) BUT I was definitely happy to relax and get to bed on the earlier side.
I made myself some dinner before getting back to more reading.

It ended up storming again tonight, so I was glad I didn’t have to walk to work. I have a feeling that might’ve played into me not hearing about coming in tonight… but who knows.
For the rest of the night I read, I got to over page 300 out of 1000 of this book… still a long way to go! And I watched an episode of Bleach. I’m actually very close to the end of this show as well, which has been a grind to watch!
Tomorrow I don’t have work until 4pm, so hopefully there’ll be some sunny sky’s and a beautiful day to go to the beach. But we’ll see what I get up to! For now, it’s time to catch up on sleep!
