Spending the morning at Pippi Beach, Yamba

Day 301! Well, I guess if I’m not working much this week I should take advantage of it. I decided to head to the beach today and check out Pippi Beach. The beach was practically empty and if there were people they had their dogs with them! This made for a very peaceful morning.

I tried to sleep in this morning to no avail. Since my room is eastwardly facing, I get a nice wake up to the sun every morning. Even with the blinds, my room gets filled with natural light which has been making my body think it’s time to get up.

Not the worst thing in the world, but I wouldn’t mind sleeping in if I don’t have to be getting up.

I didn’t have work today, unfortunately nothings changed with my schedule yet… hopefully it will soon because I want to work!

Now that I have groceries, I made myself some oats with peanut butter, jelly, and almonds and I also made myself some Vegemite avocado toast. It was a very welcome treat to have this breakfast again after almost a week without it.

My first order of business today was getting laundry detergent. I took a quick walk over to the local grocer and they had some for a fair price. I also decided to get new dish scrubbers, and dish towels since the ones that my roommates were using weren’t up to par anymore.

I then decided to look into the Yamba public library. I found out how to apply for a library card online and got to reserving some books! They have all 3 books I’m looking for! The second Way of Kings (WoK) book, the second Dune book, and the LOTR first book. The WoKs book is at another branch so hopefully my reservation will get here by the weekend.

Even with filling out the form online, I wanted to go check out the library and see what else they had. So I hopped on my bike and went over. While I was at the library, I got my physical library card. I couldn’t prove that I actually lived at my address but they said if I have my manager just write on a piece of paper that I work for them and live where I live that’ll be enough. As of now my account can only have 6 books checked out instead of the full 30… but I don’t think I really need more than 6 anyways.

Before I went to the library, I got ready for the beach. Once I finished up at the library I got back in my bike and headed to Pippi Beach! Thankfully the hill to this beach was much nicer than to the main beach. But, it was still a solid workout.

I locked up my bike and set off down the dunes to explore this new beach.

I ended up walking the entire beach! I started north to check out the waves on that end. Kevin, from yesterday, told me this was a good spot to learn because of how the waves come off of the break. He said that the waves get progressively bigger the further south you go. So you can work your way down the beach I guess.

There were a few others out walking the beach and most had dogs. Otherwise I pretty much had the beach to myself.

After walking around for a bit, I parked it in a secluded spot and threw on an audio book my friend Maddie (form KC) suggested.

Every now and then I’d spot a tiny crab pop up out of its home from the ground. Also some dogs would run up to me, give me a look, and then run off. Only one let me pet it.

I sat in the sun for almost 3 hours. Just enjoying some saline time, listening to the ocean, and relaxing. I did hop into the water for a short time to cool down at one point, but for the most part I just sat in the sand enjoying the day.

I eventually headed home around 2pm, showered, started a load of laundry, and then made myself some tuna, cheese, pesto, and tomato sandwiches.

After lunch, I jammed out on the guitar for a bit and then got sucked into a YouTube rabbit hole.

I lounged around in bed for the remainder of the afternoon.

I got up to make dinner, which consisted of leftovers from yesterday. I chopped up some more tomatoes too to add to my meal.

I finished off the night by watching some of the anime Bleach. I’m slowly getting close to finally finishing this series. There’s a total of 366 episodes and I’m now on episode 322!

I wish I had a surfboard to use this free time to practice. But I can’t forget, having a nice and slow relaxing day is okay! Even though I want to work work work, I still want to enjoy what I have around me! I do hope though that I can get more shifts than what has been allotted to me.

Has the tourist season started? When does the Australian Summer start? I’m sure your schedule will pick up then. Are you able to scuba dive in Yamba?

Unfortunately the diving centers are fairly far away… but I’m sure they’d be freezing cold dives! I hope my schedule picks up. I’m not exactly sure when summer starts here! Google says December though.
