Day 111! After a month plus of traveling with friends I made on the road, it was finally time to go back solo for a couple of days. Today’s adventure is a nice recovery day full of checking off todos and relaxing.
I woke up today on the early side and with no friends to go join for breakfast, I decided to go to the gym before I ate!

I grabbed a big water from 7-eleven and took a nice stroll to go workout.
The gym was on Khaosan Road inside a hotel. It cost 200 Baht ($5), which (I think) is the most I’ve paid for a day pass in SE Asia so far. It had enough equipment inside for me to do the workout I wanted, but for the price it was a bit underwhelming. I was very happy to start my day with a workout though!

After working out, I walked back to the hostel where I passed by the alleyway restaurant I’ve been eating at. I decided to eat breakfast before heading back for a shower!

I enjoyed the pink noodle soup so much the day before that I had to have it again! This place rocks! And it’s very nice to have it so close to the hostel.
Before heading back to the hostel, I quickly walked over to a nearby dentist to see if they had any availability for a teeth check up and cleaning:

They were actually able to get me an appointment today but it wasn’t until 4pm. So I headed back to the hostel to relax.
I spent the next hour and a half sitting in my dorm’s AC, working on updates for the website!

Even though Sam and Dan were gone, I still had my new friend Jin to hang out with! After I updated what I wanted, I went and got lunch with him in the same alleyway I ate breakfast.
This time, instead of soup, I got chicken basil with rice. It was delicious!

Lunch wasn’t the only activity we were doing together this afternoon. We also both needed haircuts! So we walked 10 minutes to a suggested barber from someone at our hostel.
Allegedly, the haircuts here were only 100 Baht ($2.70)!

The haircut was in fact 100 Baht and they did a good job! It was hard to tell directly after the haircut because they combed my hair out, which makes it super poofie.
The people working at the barber were very friendly and wanted to chat with us. While I nervously waited my fate with the haircut, we shared lots of laughs and chatted in broken English about random things.

We of course had to grab a smoothie for the walk back!

Jin and I found a section of alleyways that led to Khaosan road. This got us back to our hostel very quick!
I had a fairly quick turn around once I got back to the hostel. But when I got back, I was told by Yaz that I needed to change rooms. This wasn’t a biggie, so I grabbed my things and moved down to the main floor down.

I then walked back to my dentist appointment and got there a few minutes early. It was nice to relax in the AC after a nice morning of sweating a lot!

I was in and out of the dentists office pretty quickly. I think they did a fine job for very cheap and it was cool to go to a dentist in another country. In total I spent 1230 Baht ($33), Not bad!
A couple hours later, Yaz (the hostel owner) was going to get fried chicken and rice from a lady down the road. Jin and I also got some! It was super good and insanely cheap for what I got!

It doesn’t look like much in the bag. But when you pull it out, it was a decent sized piece of chicken with soooo much rice!

And for 30 Baht too?! I was very happy with this meal!
I was still hungry a couple hours later. So Jin and I set out to find some more food! All of the regular stands were gone, which included our regular smoothie place. I guess Khaosan goes on a break on Mondays!
We went to a cheap nearby restaurant instead, where I got a chicken pad Thai that I completely forgot to take a picture of! But it was very delicious.

We of course had to end the night with a classic mango smoothie! This one was exceptionally good and was the perfect way to end the day.

It was a pretty low key day, but I got a lot of nice todos out of the way! I don’t really have many plans until my cousins get here. So I’m sure there’ll be a couple of chill days while I wait! I’m really enjoying hanging out in Bangkok this time around! I think conquering Ho Chi Minh City prepared me to experience Bangkok this time around! It’s a far less hectic city and I can appreciate it much more better now!
