Day 57! Today was a nice mix of productive motorbike work and relaxation! I’m looking forward to more of the latter as I spend more time in Hoi An!
I slept like a rock and woke up this morning halfway through the free breakfast!
I enjoyed an omelette Banh Mi and some pancakes with banana and passion fruit!
It was nice to start off the morning with something sweet because what happened next was not as scrumptious as the food.

I set off into town to get my motorbike looked at by a mechanic. A fellow motorbiker suggested this mechanic and I decided to check them out!
I’m glad I did because they took Kilby out on a test drive and it turns out she needed a lot of work.
The biggest issue was that there was water in my engine!! Not a good thing.

They showed me the muddy goop coming out of it… not a fun sight.
They also found some exposed wires that they strongly suggested I get fixed up.
Then they checked the bike wheel bearings and the back tire needed new ones.
They also were going to fix the speedometer and odometer. They asked about the fuel gauge and I told them no since I’ve come this far without one!
I’m probably missing a thing or two from the repair list… but they had to completely take the motorbike apart! I sure hope they know how to put it back together!

In total this repair is going to cost me 2,110,000 Dong… cheap but not as cheap as I had hoped. However, you can’t put a price tag on safety!!
A fun part of this experience was that I was FaceTiming my cousins, Ben and Sam, who are going to be visiting me in Thailand! They got to experience the whole situation live and were laughing at the goofy communication and situation that was going on.
We also started to plan our trip together a bit!! I’m so excited for them to come experience SE Asia for a little bit!

I took a Grab bike back to the hostel and when I got back I had to switch buildings since the dorm I was in got booked up! A minor inconvenience but not the end of the world and a risk I take only booking one night at a time!
Also, it’s nice to see this hostel doing so well since I enjoy it so much!

I then joined my friend Lea on the beach where I had a drink and listened to an audiobook! I also ran into the ocean and got beat up by the waves for a little bit!

It was a bright, sunny, warm day! Literally no clouds in the sky!
After hanging out on the beach for a bit, we headed to the hostel for a late lunch.

After enjoying another delicious bowl of Cao Lau with chicken we went back to the beach and enjoyed the rest of the sunshine!

Once the sun started to go further behind the trees, the beach got a bit chillier and windier. So we headed back to get ready for the evening!
The evening consisted of more food, meeting new hostel-mates, and playing cards!

I taught some people how to play Shithead and another traveler had dobble (also known as Spot-it) which was fun to play again!
The hostel put on a bonfire on the beach and I went for a little bit. But I need to go to the shop on the early side tomorrow so I left the fire and went to bed at a decent time!
Tomorrow will be some more chill adventures in this lovely town!
