A trip to the oddest colored waterfall in Quy Nhon

Day 26! We’re not too far off from a full month of traveling already!

I started my day off with a breakfast of fried eggs and bread!

Fried eggs and avocado toast is my go to breakfast at home, so it was nice to kick off the day with something similar!

I ended up eating with my new friend Mark and then we went and chatted on the hammocks together before he headed off for the south of Vietnam!

I ended up hanging out on these hammocks well after Mark had left for the day.

I’m a big fan of hammocking… and I’m an even bigger fan of hammocks near the ocean!

I had a nice couple of FaceTimes today too with my friend Adam who just got engaged, some of my Kansas City friends, and my parents!

These FaceTimes were such a nice way to enjoy my relaxing morning!

For lunch I grabbed a fried noodles and veggies from the hostel and actually ran into a person I met in Dalat while I was eating!

They are a couple from Ireland who I sang karaoke with! It’s always so fun running into people you’ve hung out with before, even if we didn’t get that close.

After finishing lunch, Eva, Laura, Fernando, and I set off for a little afternoon adventure!

Fernando and I drove our friends to a nearby “waterfall” that we thought we could swim in.

The waterfall was a very strange color of blue and it wasn’t as impressive as we had hoped.

On top of that, Fernando accidentally slipped when trying to keep his shoes out of the water and ended up scraping his knee pretty bad. So we spent most of the time at this weird waterfalls trying to find him things to help clean his knee and stop the bleeding.

Once we got that under control we headed to a nearby small town on the outskirts of Quy Nhon.

We wandered through the tight streets and finally found a beautiful beach that had a restaurant on it!

I guess I was hungry because I totally forgot I had already ate lunch. But I ended up getting a vegetable curry while we were at the restaurant.

We then wandered around the beach a bit before heading back to the hostel.

Unfortunately the water has been far too rough everywhere I’ve been to enjoy going in the ocean. Maybe Hoi An will change that!

After getting back we all hung out and chatted for a few hours while we waited for tonight’s family dinner.

The hostel was celebrating Tet early and also celebrating their employees. So we had a giant room full of tables for us, the employees and some of the employees families!

For dinner we had hot pot which was full of warm soup, noodles, chicken, and vegetables!

There were also an assortment of different meats in different forms, yummy spring rolls, and some rice crackers!

We had a nice and full table of travelers from all around the world! The dinner was rambunctious with lively conversation and great food!

After dinner it was time to bust out the karaoke machine!

I ended up singing Sweet Caroline, a duet of Breaking Free with my new friend Ben, and All Star!

Just about everyone got involved and for sure everyone was singing along to the songs they knew!

Even the security guard got up and sang (beautifully I might add)!

Over the course of the night of karaoke, there were 6 different languages sung! They were Vietnamese, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, and English!

I wrapped up my night “on the early side,” because tomorrow I set out nice and early for Hoi An!

My friend Ben who sang karaoke with me is actually riding north to Hoi An as well! So we decided to head out around 7 or 8am together!

I’ve really enjoyed my stay at Life’s a Beach and I look forward to coming back in the future!

It’ll be a nice long 6 hour ride tomorrow but I’m looking forward to having company along the way again!

Hopefully no surprises on this ride… but I’m sure we already know that’s unlikely!

Looked like a wonderful day! Probably a good thing to take along with you when you travel is a first aid kit. Just in case someone else scrapes their knee. I’m glad you have a buddy to travel to your next destination with. Safe travels!
