Day 15!

We’re officially halfway through the 30 days in Thailand, which is crazy! It feels like it was just yesterday I arrived and it also feels like I’ve been here for way longer!

Day 15 started with Lola and I packing up all our things and cleaning up the bungalow that we had just spent the last few days in! It was another drizzly day but the rain seemed to be starting to let up!

Lola and I went wandering down the walking street for our final time. We actually somehow found another restaurant we hadn’t tried yet.

I got a garlic chicken and rice dish which was alright, my appetite has still been a little whack unfortunately. I’m hoping that I’m back to normal in the next day or two 😪. We also got this giant peanut butter, chocolate (and some other fruits and such) smoothie, which was really good and rich, but for some reason didn’t sit well with me… I just couldn’t win this morning 😂

After a few hours of sitting and chatting and enjoying the last few hours together, it was finally time to say goodbye. It’s been a lovely 2 weeks with Lola and I’m not exactly sure when we’ll get to hang again next, but I know this isn’t a goodbye at all. I have a feeling it’ll be sooner than I think!

With our goodbyes said, it was time for me to start on my absurdly long day (over a day) of travel! The travel consists of 3 legs. Pai to Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai to Bangkok, and Bangkok to Phuket!

After a gorgeous 3.5 hour van ride, I had made it from Pai to Chiang Mai!

I tried sleeping a bit on the ride, but man it’s a windy ride through the mountains! I got off the van and started wandering to where Apple Maps told me the bus terminal was… but of course it was wrong. So I wandered back to the van terminal and got the correct directions. I also stopped for a quick meal at a lovely hole in the wall restaurant.

50 Baht Thai Basil Chicken with rice, it was lovely!

I then sat around for my next bus to Bangkok for about 30 min before it showed up! This bus ended up being super empty so I had both seats to myself and could veg about.

I’ll be on this bus for 9.5 hours and I’ll arrive in Bangkok at 4:10am 🤪. My bus to Phuket is at 6:45am… it’s going to be a long trip, but I’ve heard so many good things about the south so I know it’ll be worth it!

I’m hoping I get good sleep and I start feeling better soon. 🤞

Hey, might the last chocolate drink have dairy in it?? That might have helped the discomfort happen. Glad you got space to spread and rest on this leg of the journey! Safe travels!!

It had oat milk, which should’ve been fine! Not really sure what happened 🤷‍♂️

Thai basil chicken is the best. Glad to know it’s something people actually eat in Thailand.
