Day 1!

Bangkok

I ended up not going to bed when I after I got checked in. So we’ll start there before getting into what I did today!

After checking in I found my bunk bed and after seeing a group of people playing cards in the lobby, I decided not to go to bed. When I came back down they were actually playing a game I knew which made it an easy transition into playing with them! Three of the card players were all friends from the east coast of the US and the other two were from around London! I ended up staying up till about 1am playing cards and taking shots with them and then passssedd out in my bunk.

I slept okay, waking up every other hour or so. But managed to sleep till 8am! I took a shower and popped downstairs to see if anyone was up and wanting to go get breakfast! Unfortunately only one person was up, but they weren’t down to get breakfast since they were leaving soon. They did however give me a suggestion on where to go! So I went to a Japanese/Thai bakery around the corner and got these two baked goods for breakfast! I think in total it was under 100 Baht.

On the top is a chicken croissant and the right is a Thai Tea Brioche

After breakfast I decided to make my way to see the temples. Bangkok has A TON of them, but some of my friends who’ve been to Thailand gave me recommendations on which ones to go to!

On my way though I ran into two people from Spain who were going to the same place I was! There was a little bit of a language gap but we made it work!

We ended up going to the Grand Palace which was beautiful. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves:

I didn’t have pants so I had to buy these elephant pants
Me and my new friends Blanco and Adela!

After the grand palace we decided to all stick together since we were going to the same temple next. The next temple was Wat Po, home of the reclining Buddha! This was another breathtaking site! The architecture is beautiful and each building has so many intricate details. It’s pretty incredible thinking it was built in the 1700-1800s!

I was super happy to have run into Blanco and Adela! It was really fun chatting about the architecture and getting to know each other! A lot of jokes were made about how it was hard to understand each other. But we made it work and had a blast!

After the temples we went to a nearby market where we looked at a bunch of vendors (reminded me of the shook in Israel) and ended up finding a spot on the river for lunch!

Our meals ended up being SUPER spicy and Adela was not doing okay with the spice 😂 but outside of that it was nice to sit down and chat!

We then walked back towards our separate hostels and said our goodbyes! Not sure if our paths will cross again, but they definitely made my morning much more fun! Who knows, maybe I’ll go visit them in Spain!

I got back to my hostel and just chilled in the lobby where I met a few other people staying in my hostel and made plans to go to China town with some of them later in the day!

I ended up hanging at my hostel for most of the afternoon after a long morning of walking around and made a lot of new friends! We ended up getting a crew of guys together to get a Thai Massage too 😂 it was my first massage ever and it was definitely an experience. Half of the time I felt relaxed and the other half it hurrrtttt.

The fellas after the massage

After the massage this same crew (and a couple others) headed out to China town! It was crazy busy and super fun! We ended up eating at a street vendor and I had one of the best crab fried rice I’ve ever had. We also ate random street food from vendors and even stopped by a Michelin star vendor!

Our Grab (Uber) ended up being a decked out sprinter

When doing my YouTube videos in the US it always amazes me how quickly you can become friends with strangers. But truly in a matter of hours I felt like I had known these people my whole life.

After Chinatown, we came back to the hostel and karaoke night was going on! We had an big crew of hostel friends singing, drinking, and playing beer pong! I met a bunch more people at my hostel and then a crew of us made our way to Khao San Road.

Khao San Road is infamous for its partying, DJs, and wild nights. We ended up getting a table at one of the clubs and partied till very late… like 6am late (which is why this post is late haha).

If this is the start of my trip, I’m so freaking excited for the rest of the trip!
