Day 361! It feels like the official start of summer is here! Tonight’s shift was the busiest it’s been since I’ve arrived in Yamba… and I would’ve said it was a blast the entire time but we were underprepared for what was to come…
Countdown: 4 days until a whole year of traveling and 6 days until I get my boot off (pretty sure)!!
I woke up this morning… and you probably could guess what I got up to.
I showered, ate my usual breakfast, and then got back into bed to binge watch some more Squid Games. The show is getting pretty intense and the morning flew by.
…I did get up fairly late, so that’s another reason the morning flew by.
It was a pretty hot day out and sitting in my room wasn’t the most pleasant of activities. My room likes to collect the heat. But in less than a week I’ll be enjoying the beach to its fullest every day I can!
Around 3pm I sat down for lunch andddd I didn’t have a tuna wrap! I actually had some leftover noodles and chicken. I haven’t had a chance to eat them for dinner again so I decided it’d be a good idea to eat it before it went bad.
After lunch, I had a little bit of time left before I needed to head up the hill for work. So I cracked open Oathbringer, the book I’m still working on, and devoured a couple more chapters.
And then, it was time for work!
When I got to work, the bar was slammed. They were a bit understaffed. Turns out, one of my coworkers just caught the bug we all had the past couple weeks. The whole night proceeded to be, what felt like, busier than Boxing Day!
It was a constant barrage of patrons needing and wanting drinks. I felt like I made 1,000 vodka lime sodas… everyone loves that drink in this country. Thankfully we had a new worker on board so he was doing all back bar duties, which saved us in the end. Since we had to constantly make drinks, he was able to supply us with cups, limes, ice, etc.
I was able to sneak a break in around 9:30pm again. My manager had ordered a fish burger, but since we were so busy, he just gave it to me since he wasn’t going to be taking a break anytime soon. And I wasn’t going to say no to a free meal!

It was super nice to sit for 30 minutes before heading back into the “war zone.”
The rest of the night consisted of relentless drink pouring. Thankfully, there was some killer live music that helped drive me towards the finish line!
Midnight rolled around and we wrapped up serving drinks and cleaned up the bar! This took around an hour and I clocked out just before 1am. I decided to play one game of pool before heading home…
Because… I have to work the opening shift tomorrow! Closing and opening is a pretty tiring job, but I have Monday off to relax before another busy week! Hopefully it’s another busy day so the time flys by and the shift is more fun!
