Day 360! Woweee. 5 more days until a full year of traveling and 6 more days until I should be out of this stinking moon boot. It’s been a long 5-6 weeks and I’m READY to get back into the ocean and surfing. After a crazy Boxing Day it was time to lie around until work…
I woke up this morning, got ready for my day, and made myself some breakfast. I’ve felt like you’ve seen enough of my oats and toast, so we’ll skip over the picture. But it’s cheap and tasty, that’s what matters!
Because of my crazy work shift last night, my clothes got soaked in different drinks and sweat, including my moon boot. It was time for some laundry. I got that going and then plopped back down in bed because I didn’t want to walk anywhere without my boot. I only have 6 more days, I don’t want to hurt my foot now.
When I sat back down in bed, I started watching the new season of Squid Games… but when I got halfway through the first hour long episode, I realized, I wanted to get a haircut. My moon boot was done in the washer, so I took it out, threw everything else into the dryer, and made my way out into the bright sunny day.

One of our regulars at the pub, and also a musician at the pub, Jackie, is a barber! I just found this out the other day. So I decided to try her out since the other barbershop I have gone to was closed (and usually a long wait). I walked inside and Jackie was happy to see me, but currently cutting someone’s hair.
So… she asked me to come back at noon.
I was in no rush and the barbershop wasn’t far from my place. So, I went back home, finished the first episode of Squid Games, and then walked back to the barbershop.
I told Jackie that I wanted the sides shaved back down and the rest trimmed up a little bit. Jackie and I were chitchatting and she started going to town… she started lobbing off a lot more hair than I expected, BUT I wasn’t opposed to it. It’s my fault for not being more clear and she interpreted what I said to be more of a cut suitable for the summer heat.
So, I did lose a lot of the curls I’d gained over the past year… however, hair grows back (at least for the time being) and with how fast my hair grows, it’ll be back within the month. So I’m not too worried.
Without further ado, here’s the new haircut:

I took another shower to wash the loose hairs out and then sat back down in bed to enjoy more of the new season of Squid Games. With hour long episodes, I only got through a few before having to eat my tuna wraps for lunch and head out for work!

I went up for work at 5pm to a busy-ish bar. After yesterday, I’m not sure any night is going to live up to how busy it was. But apparently we’re going to start trying to do more DJ nights to attract crowds like that. The night really slowed down after the dinner rush, but surprisingly the shift flew by still. I guess there was a steady enough flow that it was 11:30pm before I knew it.
For my dinner break at 9:40pm, I had a burger and fries. It had been sitting in a heater for the past hour, so it wasn’t the best, but it was alright for the circumstances.

We finished up the work shift, cleaned up the bar, and then had our nightly ritual of some pool playing. While we were standing around, I asked my manager what the situation was with potentially helping me with my 88 days of “rural” work. He said he’ll have an answer to me after new years… I’m not very optimistic and hopefully my plan with Will is still available to me. Otherwise it’ll be a mad scramble to find a place to work!
I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
