Day 349! With my day off from work finally here, it was time to relax and take it easy! I only have 17 days left till I get my boot off, so there’s no reason to do anything too crazy, yet… but I still made the most of my day and enjoyed the outdoors and relaxation in this beautiful town.
Today, my friends and I were supposed to wake up bright and early in the morning to go deep sea fishing. But because of the strong winds and large waves, we had to postpone. But because it was my day off, I had the chance to sleep in again!
I ended up sleeping in till around 9am and got my day going. Thankfully, I didn’t have any encounters at night with the little gecko… I was a bit nervous it was going to fall onto me in the middle of the night.
I ate breakfast and then plopped back down in bed to relax and watch some more My Hero Academia. This was pretty much my entire morning! But because of all this relaxation, my foot is starting to feel so much better.
I also used the time to wash my moon boot and my bed sheets. My moon boot was in desperate need of a wash after a week of bartending. It can be a messy job at times!
Around 1pm, I decided to get my rear in gear and head out into the beautiful, sunny day. I popped on my moon boot, which was clean and pretty much dry at this point, and made my way up the hill to the park I’ve been spending time in. Turns out this park is called Flinders Park!
I found a much better area to sit in too, a pavilion overlooking the ocean with a bench, table, and backrest, it was perfect! Especially with the wind blowing off the ocean, it made for a great spot to read and enjoy the day.

While I sat here, I FaceTimed my parents for our weekly call. A 17 hour time difference makes it tough to find a good time to chat, especially if I work during the day. But I’m glad I can always make the time to have this FaceTime. But what’s even better, is that I’m only (about) a months time I’ll be seeing them in person!! I cannot wait!

While sitting in this spot, a bird I haven’t seen before waddled on by.

Google says it’s a Masked Lapwing. There are a lot of opportunistic birds hanging around the picnic tables, most I’ve never seen in the US before!
Not only did birds walk by, but dogs and plenty of families out enjoying the day did too! I took breaks from reading to watch the surfers out on some pretty big waves. The winds were cooking up lots of fun! I absolutely cannot wait to get back out surfing, it’s such a tease to be living so close to the ocean but not be able to be in it… especially after pretty much spending 4 months under the sea.
I kept reading for a while but eventually being hungry made it so I couldn’t focus on my book. So I packed up, headed down the hill, and made a quick stop at the local grocer before heading home to make a late lunch (work has messed up my sleeping and eating schedules).

I got myself more tuna, some more mint slices (to put into the freezer), and a delicious butter chicken pie that the grocery store makes. I then made myself some tuna wraps, per usual. I’ll definitely be needing another grocery store order soon!
While I was eating, my roommate (the cleaner) was cleaning the house and cleaned my room as well! For the price I’m paying for this place… it’s a steal. That it’s cleaned, utilities are included, and it’s a super nice room and house is unreal! “Far out” is what the Aussies would say I bet.
I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening reading and watching more tv. I’m over 700 pages into this book and it’s still holding my attention, same with this tv show! But while watching an episode… disaster struck! … not really, but it adds suspense.

While traveling through SE Asia by motorbike, my waterbottles strap started slowly breaking. I believe, by Thailand part of it finally broke and now… on this fateful day, it finally fully broke off. But, the cap still works, so nothing to worry about! I might get a new one, or I might just leave it… only time will tell!
If that says anything about how exciting having a fractured foot is, I don’t know what else will sell how fun it is.
Tomorrow I’ll be working at night again and for the rest of the week I’ll have the same schedule as the week prior! I’m pretty pumped to be having the night shifts again, they’re much more fun. I’m counting down the days till I can resume my normal shenanigans, 17 days… it can’t come soon enough!
