Day 344! Another lazy morning and night of work! The days are getting fairly repetitive, but it’s the unfortunate reality of healing. But soon, not as soon as I’d like, but soon, I’ll be getting back to surfing, beaching, and getting active!
I decided I’ve had enough days in a row of sleeping in. So I woke up today to my alarm at 8:30am and got to it!

I made myself breakfast, the same as usual. I didn’t have work until 5pm today, so I had plenty of time to relax and rest my foot.
What did I do with my time? You could probably guess it! I read! I honestly read a ton… I’m now over 50% of the way through this 1000+ page book and it keeps getting better and better!
I also watched some of the newest episodes of Bleach. With my binge of the show over the past year, I caught up to the live airing of the show! It’s pretty cool to be able to see a show from 2004 still being aired and see how far the animation has come along.
Around noon, I set out into the sunny day on a little errand. I ran out of bread, wraps, and tuna, so I walked over to the local grocer to get these few items.

It was nice to get out and about during the day! I may not have the gumption to go up and down the hill too many times, but I welcomed the chance to get out and about. Because of how much standing I’m doing at work though, I feel like it’s best (even though it’s boring and a bummer) to just sit at home for the next few weeks. I’m sure it’ll pass by sooner than I realize.
I took a power nap and then went back to reading for a little bit before making myself lunch.

While eating, I’ve enjoyed watching longboard surfing videos. Whether it’s lessons, compilations of people’s surf sessions, or surfing competitions, I’ve been devouring it all! I may not currently be able to better my surfing in the water, but I’m hoping learning and watching will help my understanding of it for when I get back to surfing!
After eating, I went back to reading until I had to head up the hill for work!
My shift tonight was slated from 5pm-11pm… but with how the weeks been going so far, I had a feeling it wouldn’t last that long. To my surprise, it almost did and I wrapped up around 10:40pm.
Work was slow, like usual as of late… the calm before the summer storm, or at least that’s what I’ve been told! But as the other nights, I had nice coworkers to hang out with and plenty of fun conversations to have with the guests! People love asking me “how I ended up in Yamba from the US” or about my travels. I chatted with a lovely couple whose son (Australian) was a US marine but has now moved back to Australia.
As the shift progressed, I knew I wasn’t going to work over 6 hours, so I didn’t take a break. I did have dinner while I worked. I didn’t take a picture, because I’m not on my phone during work, but I had a delicious fish burger.
It wasn’t a busy shift, but we had a solid group of people hang around until close, which is why I was able to stay on as long as I did. After closing shop, my coworker and I played a game of pool before she gave me a lift down the hill and dropped me at home!
I immediately showered and got ready for bed! I didn’t do much today… but I was still tired for some reason. I guess doing very little can still be exhausting!
I just got an update for my shifts this week, so I’ll be working every night this week! Exactly what I was hoping for when I started this job. We’ll see if that’s just a temporary thing or if it’ll last, but I have plenty of hours this week!
