A chilled out day of work, play, and having groceries delivered to my house

Day 340! Woah… only a few more weeks until a full year of traveling?! That’s crazy… Settling down in Yamba has been a nice twist of fate and, outside of fracturing my foot, I’ve enjoyed every second of it. Today was no exception. I had a nice chill day with work, reading, and hanging out with some friends!

I woke up this morning insanely exhausted. Working till 1am and not going to bed, pretty much, until 2am took it out of me. I might not of partied last night, but it definitely felt like it when I woke up.

So I promptly snoozed my alarm until 9am. I did eventually have to get up though, I had work starting at noon, so I needed to get my day going.

I’ll spare you the breakfast post, I only had oats today. I was receiving a grocery delivery later in the day… but this was all I had in the pantry.

For the rest of the morning I read and napped, the pretty standard morning for me! Post this doctor’s visit and especially after a long night of working, I’ve been wearing my boot all around the house. I want to make sure it heals fully come January 3rd, 2025 (it’s almost the new year already)!

It was just before noon and I hobbled my way up the hill to work. I had a short little work stint today, but I wasn’t complaining because more hours meant more money to save! Unfortunately, the lunch shift was rather slow, so the 3 hour shift felt longer than the almost 8 hour shift the night before.

There was actually a patron today that was in a moon boot as well, so we commiserated over our injury woes.

I eventually clocked off and headed home for lunch.

I had the leftover fish and chips that I got yesterday night for free. Can’t complain about a free meal! Especially since I was still waiting for my grocery delivery to arrive.

After lunch I took another nap, and I when I woke up, I received a call from my friend Will. He wanted to know if I wanted to hang out with him and his friend Lachy (who I met the other week). My social battery and energy was fairly low, so I rain checked, but we made plans to meet up later in the night to go to the hotel.

Instead of going to the tavern with them, I read more, and jammed out on the guitar.

Around 6:45pm, my groceries finally arrived! This service is super helpful for me right now. Today’s delivery fee was an $4 rather than the $2 during the week, but it’s still cheap! I’m very fortunate this service is available in this small town, otherwise I’d have to rely on others to drive me to and from the store or wait hours for the bus!

Eventually my social battery was filled back up and I made myself dinner before meeting up with Will.

Will and I walked up the hill to a fairly quiet hotel. But, since I work there almost every day, I know almost everyone that drinks there too. So there were plenty of people to chat with. Two of them were Jack and Liam, both of whom I met previous weekends. They’re also both closer to my age than most people in this town, which is super nice to be able to hang around!

At one point, one of the regulars at the bar (during the day usually) showed up and bought me a drink, since, in her words, “there’s no tip jar.” I insisted she did not need to buy me a drink, but she was very happy when I caved and said okay.

I didn’t stay out late tonight, I have to work at 10am tomorrow! I might not be working Saturday nights at the moment, but I’m working pretty much all day on Sundays… or at least scheduled to!

It was a nice a chilled out day in Yamba, like most days so far! We’ll slowly start chipping away at the days left in the moon boot, and once that’s done, the excitement of the blogs will pick back up drastically!
