Making a trip to the Yamba Public Library

Day 337! Another slow day today, but I did finish the book I was reading and got my hands on another one (which I’m very excited to dive in on)!

I woke up this morning to my alarm at 8:30am… but since I didn’t have work till 5pm, I gave myself another 30 minutes to sleep in.

After making myself breakfast, I sat back down in bed, kicked up my fractured foot, and opened up Dune: Messiah. I was on a mission to finish the book today and I had plenty of time to do it.

It was finally a sunny day and I could’ve gone to the beach and read in the grassy area. But, I can’t say I have the motivation right now to walk to the beach, especially with the hill. If my foot was fine I’d be all over it… and of course surfing (or attempting to surf). In two days I’ll have more of an idea of how long this process will take and where I’m at!

I took a break from reading to jam on the guitar. It was nice to play the acoustic for a change. As much as I love the jam shed and making music with Paddy, Sam, and Bella, I really prefer the acoustic guitar over the electric! The type of music I like to play fits it better and the sound is a lot nicer than the electric in my opinion.

I made myself some tuna wraps for lunch and had a couple of very tasty clementines too. Last week’s clementines were pretty awful, so I’m glad these ones were much better.

After lunch I kept on reading my book. The last 50 pages were very good! But the majority of the book was a bit slow and confusing. I still enjoyed it though! I finished it up around 2:45pm and checked the library hours for today. They were still open, so I strapped on my moon boot and set outside for a little walk through town.

I not only was using this as a trip to return the Dune book, but I was also picking up a book as well.

As nice, small town Yamba has proven itself, the librarian was super friendly and knows me by name now! It does help I’m one of the only Americans… and specifically an American in a moon boot, but still a nice gesture.

I was picking up the next Way of Kings book called Oathbringer. This book was a lot smaller than the last, but that was just because the font was very small. The book itself is still 1100 pages! The librarian remembered my shock at how big the last one was, and mentioned that she remembered and gave me an extra week on my loan!

I was very excited to get my hands on the next one in this series! It’s definitely one of my favorites at the moment.
And look at this font and spacing! What did I sign myself up for…

When I got back home, I didn’t dive into the book yet. I instead started the next season of Demon Slayer, season 3.

It started off really well but I had to pry myself away from the episode I was on and get ready for work.

When I set out for my walk up the hill, a car pulled up next to me and rolled down its window. It ended up being my coworker Bryce and he gave me a ride up the hill, even though he wasn’t working tonight.

Tonight was a fairly busy night at the hotel for a Wednesday night. This was because we were hosting our first trivia night. The host brought some tough questions and the bar staff tried to put our heads together while we were working… but the trivia wasn’t geared towards me whatsoever. One of the rounds was all about the Australian citizenship test. I didn’t know much for that one.

I unfortunately was told to take a 30 minute break, even though I didn’t need to today (based on how long I was working already). But I ate my dinner durning that time and forgot to take a picture of it. I had a double burger with French fries. It actually was the first meal that was pretty subpar from the bistro. Oh well!

Work wrapped up early for me (on top of taking a break). But… I wasn’t supposed to be working tonight anyways so any extra hours are something!

I made my way down the hill and after getting cleaned up and ready for bed, I called it a night.

Tomorrow I have the day off! Not really sure what I’ll get up to yet… but I know Friday. I’ll be going on a mini roadtrip with my friend Will, as we make our way to my appointment at the Grafton hospital.

I love that the librarian not only knows you, but gave you an extra week because of the fine print!! Fabulous!
