A chill day in Pai, Thailand

Day 95! I honestly didn’t get up to a lot today… which is totally okay! There is a lot to do and see around Pai, but it’s also a perfect place to relax and recharge. And today, that is exactly what I did!

The sun yesterday took the energy out of me so I slept like a rock.

I woke up still tired but motivated to go to the gym again. So I quietly got out of my dorm room, to not disturb my friends, and headed down the street to the gym.

I had another really nice work out! Every time I’ve worked out since Vietnam, it made me realize just how easy it would’ve been to continue working out after I started traveling. There’s no reason to dwell on it or kick myself for not doing it, because now I’ll make sure to get my workouts in!

I felt energized again and was very hungry after finishing up. I had noticed a cheap Thai food restaurant near the gym, on my walk this morning. I told my friends about it and Sam, Dan, and Toby joined me for breakfast.

After breakfast, I got an influx of pictures from yesterday’s tubing extravaganza. This meant I could finish up my previous days blog post!

I finished that up, showered, and chilled out on our hostels patio with my friends until around lunch time! It was super hot out so we were just enjoying each others company and trying to stay cool.

We then went on a mission to find some cheap food. We quickly found a Japanese style restaurant that had very cheap good, so we thought we’d give it a go!

I thoroughly enjoyed the meal, but was still hungry. So we went around the corner to a smoothie stand and I got a banana, pineapple, and mango smoothie!

I was still pretty exhausted, and after we got back to the hostel, I decided to take a nap!

When I woke up, some of my friends were headed to a Muay Thai class. This sounded like a cool experience, but I wanted to continue my day of chilling out so I’ll do it another time.

Instead, I relaxed at my hostel and enjoyed being outside in the shade and reading my book.

Once my friends were back, we ended up going to a restaurant nearby our hostel that had very cheap food and smoothies!

I had forgotten about this restaurant but after arriving I remembered that I’d definitely ate here a couple of times last time I was in Pai.

We then enjoyed a nice night out of wandering the town and listening to some incredible live music!

This funk band was incredible and there were so many people listening and dancing. It felt like all the tourists (and some locals) were there. Everyone was smiling, dancing, and having a great time!

It ended up being a very mellow day of relaxing and eating, two of my favorite things! I haven’t really felt the urge to HAVE to go do anything since I’ve done the touristy sites already. Instead, I’ve just been enjoying being back in this special place.

Tomorrow I might get up to some motorbiking adventures but we’ll see what we actually get up to!

I’m glad you listened to your body and relaxed. Hot, humid days can be very exhausting. One of the perks of visiting a town you’ve already been to affords you that opportunity. From your pictures, it looks like it’s high tourist season
