A very chill last day in Vang Vieng

Day 84! Vang Vieng has treated me very well! I’ve had a blast meeting fun, down to earth people and I’ve really enjoyed relaxing for a bit too! With my visa coming to an end, I need to leave for my next destination. So today is my last day (for now) in Vang Vieng!

Today was the day that Maddie and Jenny were leaving. So I woke up on the early side for breakfast and to say see you later!

It’s been really fun getting to hang out with Maddie again! It’s been about 5 years since we’ve seen each other so we had a lot of catching up to do! We also had a blast reminiscing on memories from college.

After they left I FaceTimed my parents for our weekly call! One of my siblings was in town so I got to talk with her too.

I was exhausted still from the lack of sleep and getting extra sleep last night. So I went back to bed and took a nap until lunchtime!

I still had a couple people left in town to hang with, so Wannes and I met up to grab lunch together!

I’ve really enjoyed getting to know him and I hope to run into him in the future since this is our last day together! He’ll be heading off to Cambodia soon.

I then went and took a Power Nap and woke up feeling energized and ready to take on the world. So I threw some gym clothes on and set out on a 10 minute walk for a workout.

The workout surprisingly woke me up! I did a great push day and the gym was practically empty! I ended off my workout with another protein shake.

Originally, I was thinking about doing another viewpoint hike tonight for sunset. But I thought about it and realized I wanted the picture more than the hike itself, so I decided to relax instead and joined back up with Wannes and a few others to enjoy the sunset at a nearby bar.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the sunsets in Laos! I really think everyone should take the time to watch them and appreciate them more. But the ones in Laos have been extremely special!

For dinner I went to a nearby food stand that was selling very cheap and comedically large Banh Mi! I ended up getting a chicken Banh Mi, filled with avocado, lettuce, grilled onions, and garlic, with a Mango smoothie for 60,000 Kip in total!

I devoured the sandwich and sat with my friends chatting the night away until I decided to call it a night around 9pm.

On my walk back, I said my “see you later” to Wannes and was heading back to my hotel when a restaurant caught my eye.

It was the wanton soup place from a couple days ago and I decided to get a late night snack before heading to bed.

I’m glad this place was open because I had been meaning to try their soup again! It was one of my favorites in Laos.

Vang Vieng has been a very fun town to stay in for the week! But it’s time to move on to Luang Prabang where I should be meeting back up with some friends I’ve made along the way.

My plan tomorrow is to head out on the earlier side for (I believe) my last long motorbike ride of Laos! It’s a bit sentimental because it’s been a long 3 month journey… but I am ready to not sit on a motorbike for hours on end!

Let’s hope for a smooth, cop free ride!
